Friday Fun Food Facts - March 12, 2010

The 32-year-old Chapel Hill institution, Time-Out Restaurant will open a 2nd location near N.C. State University this spring at 3001 Hillsborough St. And yes, it will be adorned in Wolfpack red!...Across town near Duke University, the Enzo's Pizza Company is scheduled to open next week at 2601 Erwin Road in Durham, directly across from campus...Camille's Sidewalk Cafe closed the doors of both its locations a week ago today - a big blow to the Triangle dining experience. Best of luck to Diane, Dina and the entire team at Camille's - we'll miss you!...Speaking of closings, it appears as if Cafe Zen at American Tobacco has closed its doors for good. But there are already rumblings of a new tenant...Rocky Top Hospitality's newest concept has met huge success since opening a few weeks ago, and now Tribeca Tavern is open for lunch in addition to dinner...Breugger's has added two new paninis to their lineup - the Roasted Veggie Melt and the Roast Beef & Veggie Melt. Yummy!...Natty Greene's Pub and Brewing in the Glenwood South area is now open for business, a bit ahead of schedule...Oakwood resident Sheila Sabol Duncan plans to open Pie Bird (serving up sweet and savory pies) in the old Conti's Italian Market location...In Cary's Crossroads Plaza, Jason's Deli will take over the old Pak Mail and Bear Rock spaces. An opening date has not been set....Amedeo's restaurant on Western Blvd. has reopened after an ownership change and remodel...We told you about this several weeks ago, but it is now confirmed that ZPizza has signed a 10-year lease for their 3rd location which will put them in the Bank of America building in downtown Raleigh...And speaking of downtown, Taste of India on Salisbury Street is now back open after being closed for over a month.

Friday Fun Food Facts - March 5, 2010

We are sad to confirm that LaRussa's in Chapel Hill has closed. We will miss working with Peter Susca and his entire family. We wish them the very best...A few weeks ago, Taste of India on Salisbury Street in downtown, seemed to have closed, but luckily the restaurant was just closed temporarily and will reopen next Monday (3/8)... We know that Z Pizza is looking to open a third Triangle location and we have reason to believe that location will be in the bottom of the Bank of America building in downtown Raleigh. Look for a spring-time opening...Are you a foodie looking for something to do this weekend? Hit up the 25th annual A Toast to the Triangle event on Sunday, at the McKimmon Center. Monies support the Tammy Lynn Memorial Foundation, Inc... Boston Market announced the availability of its $2.99 Market Meal Deals. The newly introduced Market Meal Deals are available through March 21 at all locations with no coupon required...42nd St. Oyster Bar has been named the best place for live music in the Entertainment category of Midtown Magazine's Diamond Awards. And I thought it was just awesome seafood!... For those not counting calories, you'll be glad to know that Dunkin Donuts is bringing back a fan favorite: the Waffle Breakfast Sandwich. This time around, the sandwich comes with sausage in addition to eggs, American cheese and two maple-flavored waffles for $2.99... If you're a fan of Miss Taffy's Cheesecakes you'll be glad to know that she is now selling cheesecakes out of her new retail location at Six String Café and Music Hall in Cary...And finally, listen up Durhamites - As evidenced by recent permit activity, two new downtown Durham eats are moving closer to reality - Phoebe Lawless' Scratch Seasonal Artisan Baking and Eno Restaurant and Market. Restaurant News Week of Feb. 22-26

Rocky Top Hospitality has opened their latest concept, Tribeca Tavern located at the corner of High House and Davis Drive in Cary. Right now they are just serving dinner, but will open for lunch beginning March 8th and Sunday brunch on March 14th...Last Sunday, Rockwood Filling Station in Durham closed, but the space won't remain empty for long. The owners of The Original Q Shack have announced plans to open "The Fish Shack" as early as March...In Cary, Lou Moshakos has closed the steak and seafood restaurant Bentley's at Crossroads and plans to open Flat Eddie's in its place by May...Taste of India in downtown Raleigh and Green Leaf in Durham, two Indian restaurants, have closed with no evidence of plans to reopen...MindWorks Multimedia presents the 4th Annual Empty Bowls benefit for the Community Café on Friday, March 5th, 2010 from 5:30-8:00pm at The Durham Armory. Come and taste soups from some of the area's finest restaurants. More information here...Earlier this week, the tax man threw some padlocks on the doors at The Third Place Coffeehouse in Raleigh's Five Points. But word is they reopened this morning at 6 a.m. Yea!... Get a $10 gift card to Bahama Breeze by visiting their website here... Raleigh-based K&S Cafeteria has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, but will remain "in business and will continue to serve all of our loyal customers."...and last, but not least, beginning March 6, Spize Cafe will be open for lunch on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Market Restaurant will open in early March on N. Blount Street just north of downtown with a philosophy of "Local Ingredients, West Coast Inspired"...Natty Greene's will open their Raleigh location on Monday March 15th in Glenwood South ...Angus Barn's week-long wine celebration will conclude with a wine tasting this Sunday from 3:30-5 pm and it is free...Listen up Paula Deen fans, her Saturday show in Charlotte has been postponed...The owners of Capital Club 16, at 16 W. Martin Street, recently confirmed that they will be opening this spring. No hard date yet...Savoy Restaurant has its own iPhone application! It can be downloaded free from the Itunes store. Pretty slick...April 24-25, 2010 are the dates of the 15th Annual Piedmont Farm Tour. If you've never gone, you really should...If you are in and around downtown Raleigh the week of your birthday, stop by the Spize Cafe on Fayetteville Street for a free entrée. Just bring your photo ID... We are sad to announce that due to failed lease negotiations, Bacaro's Food & Company Catering has closed. Our best to Ken and Alix on finding new space...and soon!...Burger King is getting it their way, raising the price of its double cheeseburger from $1 to $1.19. That jingle won't work anymore... And finally, this week Chef James Yott Boyle took over from David Mao at the Duck & Dumpling. Don't expect many changes though (thank goodness!).

Noticed demo work and possible construction at the old Anotherthyme site in Durham. Space prep? Or new eatery? Too early to tell...Yancy's reopened January 24th as Yancy's at Farmington, located at 2800 Rock Quarry Road in Raleigh...Amedeo's on Western Blvd. is under new ownership and will be closed February 15-17 for renovations. New owner David Harris says to expect everything to stay the same, just some updated décor and signage...Frazier's (one of the Urban Food Group restaurants) will be closing after Valentine's Day, reopening later in 2010...speaking of re-opening, Fins in downtown Raleigh recently closed, but has reopened as bu*ku, check it out...Red Hot & Blue at 1900 Hillsborough Street has closed for good...In its latest issue, Restaurant News included Raleigh's Angus Barn on its prestigious "NRN 50" list of All-American Icon restaurants, congrats!...Domino's recently celebrated $1 billion in online sales, which means FREE Chocolate Lava Crunch Cakes to anyone that enters the promotional code "HUG" at checkout...

Well, as you'll see I'm hanging outside of Bear Rock Cafe this week. Bear Rock's been with us since day one, and one of our top providers week in and week out.

Today I'm talking about two things - pricing and our commitment to service.



With regard to pricing, you are going to love this. The pricing on the site, will be the exact same as if you walked into the restaurant. See an item for $5.99 on the menu at Bear Rock Cafe? It is going to be $5.99 on our site. Makes sense doesn't it?

Second, is a simple fact. No matter how cool our website is, or how fancy the technology is, we fully understand that catering is a people to people business. I'm here and will be here to serve you in the local market place. No one else can say that.

So, it has been about a month since most people have heard from me, and I've been getting the question, "Where is Sean Lennard?" I'm sure you are wondering the same thing? :-)

Well, I don't have any big announcement for you today, but we are drawing closer to a big announcement, and we'll be using this blog, Twitter and all the local media we can muster once that announcement is made.

In the meantime, we'll be providing you with weekly updates as that day draws closer - we'll be updating you with what is going on, what restaurants we have signed on, and we might even give you some previews of the features of our new site - but you can only get that here.
