Restaurant News Week of Feb. 22-26

Rocky Top Hospitality has opened their latest concept, Tribeca Tavern located at the corner of High House and Davis Drive in Cary. Right now they are just serving dinner, but will open for lunch beginning March 8th and Sunday brunch on March 14th...Last Sunday, Rockwood Filling Station in Durham closed, but the space won't remain empty for long. The owners of The Original Q Shack have announced plans to open "The Fish Shack" as early as March...In Cary, Lou Moshakos has closed the steak and seafood restaurant Bentley's at Crossroads and plans to open Flat Eddie's in its place by May...Taste of India in downtown Raleigh and Green Leaf in Durham, two Indian restaurants, have closed with no evidence of plans to reopen...MindWorks Multimedia presents the 4th Annual Empty Bowls benefit for the Community Café on Friday, March 5th, 2010 from 5:30-8:00pm at The Durham Armory. Come and taste soups from some of the area's finest restaurants. More information here...Earlier this week, the tax man threw some padlocks on the doors at The Third Place Coffeehouse in Raleigh's Five Points. Raleigh-based K&S Cafeteria has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, but will remain "in business and will continue to serve all of our loyal customers."...and last, but not least, beginning March 6, Spize Cafe will be open for lunch on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
